iPhone 16 — Apple Intelligence

Apple released the iPhone 16 with Apple Intelligence, integrating on-device AI for writing, image generation, and a deeply personal Siri.

On September 20, 2024, Apple released the iPhone 16 lineup, designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence — Apple's personal AI system. Built on the A18 and A18 Pro chips with expanded Neural Engines, the iPhone 16 brought generative AI capabilities directly to the device: Writing Tools could rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across apps; Image Playground generated images from descriptions; and a dramatically enhanced Siri could understand context, take actions across apps, and draw on personal information while maintaining privacy through on-device processing. A new Camera Control button provided quick access to visual intelligence features. The iPhone had come full circle — from a device Steve Jobs called "an iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator" to an AI-powered personal assistant.
