Birth of Pythagoras

Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician and philosopher, was born on the island of Samos.

Pythagoras of Samos, born around 570 BCE, was a Greek mathematician, philosopher, and founder of the Pythagorean school of thought. He is best known for the Pythagorean theorem relating the sides of a right triangle. Beyond mathematics, he made contributions to music theory by discovering the mathematical ratios underlying musical harmonies. His school blended mathematics, philosophy, and mysticism, and his influence extended through Plato to shape much of Western intellectual tradition.
