Birth of Sant Kabir
Sant Kabir, the mystic poet and saint, was born in Varanasi, bridging Hindu and Islamic spiritual traditions.
Sant Kabir, born around 1398 CE in Varanasi (Kashi), was a mystic poet, saint, and social reformer whose verses transcended religious boundaries. Raised in a Muslim weaver's family, Kabir drew from both Hindu and Islamic traditions while rejecting the ritualism of both. His dohas (couplets) and songs emphasized direct spiritual experience, devotion, and the unity of all people before one God. His poetry, collected in the Bijak and included in the Guru Granth Sahib, continues to inspire millions across religious lines.
