FIDE World chess championship
The Classical and FIDE titles were unified with the 2006 match between Classical champion Vladimir Kramnik and FIDE champion Veselin Topalov. All subsequent championships have been administered by FIDE. Since 2008, FIDE has returned to the format of an incumbent champion playing a challenger.

This was the reunification match between Kramnik and Topalov held in Elista, Russia with Kramnik emerging victorious.

This was an 8 player double round-robin tournament with Vishwanathan Anand emerging victorious
FIDE WCC 2008: Anand vs Kramnik
Anand was the incumbent champion with Kramink the challenger. Anand emerged victorious.
And here began a rivalry.
FIDE WCC 2010
Ananad was the incumbent champion with Topalov the challenger. Anand emerged victorious. This was held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
